TASK

Task 3 - Final Output

Upon the completion of the research, data collection, participation in allclass lectures and tutorials, presentation of a complete proposal and research data, students will explore various aspects of everyday design. As creative media students, your task is to document and communicate your experiences through a TikTok page. This page should serve as a cultural journal, where you record, reflect, and creatively present your interactions, observations, and insights about everyday design. The goal is to communicate your chosen cultural topics to a broader audience, fostering understanding and appreciation of everyday design through engaging short-form videos.

: planning

We started off by dividng each tiktok content per group member. I decided I wanted to do scenic shots of pasar seni by re-visiting and gaining some footage on our site visit, as we did not have enough video clips from the previous visit.

I went through tiktok to find inspiration and concluded that I wanted to make it a mini vlog instead, with a voiceover supporting the places we visited in Pasar Seni for batik. Here are some references I used:

: recording + editing

Asma and I decided to work on our tiktoks together and go on the same day. We decided to go on 19/03/2025 and take our separate shots for our videos.

We got our clips, I then arranged the clips and added a voiceover after getting home.

And this was my final output after editing my tiktok video:

After everyone finished making their tiktoks, it was time to open the new tiktok page.

We put up a poll to decide on names that were curated by Malay:

The majority voted for batikblends, so we opened our page up and posted our tiktoks in order accordingly. This is a screenshot of how our final page looked with each thumbnail:

Afterwards we divided each slide as per vote:

I decided to work on the final output slide which described our tiktok process with video thumbnails and descriptions. This was the slide I had to present in the final video.

FEEDBACK

Week 6: Can include carousel slide tiktoks as informative. Tiktoks have to be around 30-45 seconds.

REFLECTIONS

Experience: Intercultural design was an enriching experience. I learned the value of teamwork and how impactful culture is to everyday design. I had a lot of fun on our site visit, discovering the integration of batik in our lives and its rich history, as well as filming and documenting content for a public audience, educating them on my findings. I found Mr Azrial's feedback very helpful and the self-learning somewhat convenient. I found our group tend to to struggle with communication and collaboration, however we managed to power through.

Observations: I observed through others work on how the research and presentation must be conducted. Through observations and findings in Pasar Seni, we were able to understand the history and application of batik in today's world. Observing the use of batik helps us apply this to our project and design our very own  batik wedding dress.

Findings: I found myself struggling designing batik sketches, however excelling in creating content and research. I found that diving work through polls is effective, as each group member has a say in what to do. Through our group, I found that communication is key to working together as a team effectively, which is something certain members lacked. I found that I am more motivated when other members contribute equally.
