TASK 4
Task 4: Final Assessment - Research for Article Publication
Description
Writing remains one of the most significant modes of scholarly communication. Publishing in academic journals enables researchers to contribute meaningfully to the collective body of knowledge within their fields. Each publication, be it a novel theory, methodological advancement, or empirical discovery, adds scholarly value and fosters academic dialogue. Furthermore, publication in peer-reviewed journals enhances the visibility and reputation of the individual researcher, their department, and their institution on both national and international platforms (American Journal Experts, 2022).
Requirements:
Students are to:
1. Adapt their dissertation into a concise paper suitable for publication, adhering to The Design School KREATE journal's requirements.
2. The description in KREATE journal is available at
https://thedesignschool.taylors.edu.my/Kreate/index.html
3. Students as the author are to download the KREATE Raw Input template from https://thedesignschool.taylors.edu.my/Kreate/how-to-
submit.html with the specific font to be used, and the authors are not allowed to edit the format set in the template as described in the Manuscript Preparation Guide of the journal.
During weekly tutorials, students must present their progress. An individual tutorial feedback online form will be filled out by the students to record the students' learning progress as reflective practice based on feedback provided by the lecturer.
Submission
1. All progress must be shared via Google Drive.
2. Digital submission in Google Classroom and e-portfolio blog, CONVERTED TO PDF and in MyTIMeS (Turnitin) for plagiarising check.

FEEDBACK
Week 1
Specific Feedback: It is a consultation with me. Nothing much you have missed. It is self-introduction so that can get to know each of you, and also you all need to share your Research Methodology topic and what you had done last sem. We can catch up next week after I post a link for you all about your time slot etc.
General Feedback: Retrieve notes from MyTIMeS / Microsoft Teams. Watch supplementary lecture video on YouTube on Developing Effective Study. Skills I: Critical Review/Literature Review/Effective Academic Writing. Perform Task on Google Classroom: Assignment 1 (The writing of Draft Dissertation)
Week 2
Specific Feedback: Your title is too long. Shorten it to "Optimizing collaboration between designers and developers for workflow efficiency". Change your research problem to introduction/ background of study. Elaborate more on problem statement, maybe include more than one quotation which should be paraphrased. Research questions must come before the research objectives. Combine the first and last research questions.
General Feedback: Watch supplementary lecture video on Developing Effective Study Skills II: Critical Thinking & Enquiry. Perform Task on Google Classroom - Assignment 1 (continue with The writing of Draft Dissertation)
Week 3

Change your research problem to introduction/ background of study. Elaborate more on problem statement, maybe include more than one quotation which should be paraphrased. Research questions must come before the research objectives. Combine the first and last research questions.
General Feedback: Watch supplementary lecture video Developing Effective Study Skills III: Critical Analysis. Assignment 1 (continue with The writing of the Draft Dissertation)
Week 4
Specific Feedback: As told previously, make relevant changes to the research objectives, questions. Start on your conceptual framework and refer to the materials provided: the Do's and Don'ts of your dissertation.

Week 5
Specific Feedback: Absent
General Feedback: Assignment 1 (continue with The writing and Work on Research Implementation – Draft Dissertation). Feedback on Google Classroom / Microsoft Teams / Google Drive
Week 6
Specific Feedback: Rephrase your sentence in the abstract from "A qualitative interview method" to "A qualitative method using interview...". Redo your conceptual framework as it is completely incorrect. Include Participants before the interview guide and combine it with target audience. The interview structure overview and interview guide is the same, combine and shorten it. It is not referred to as an "Instrument" as it is an interview. Including "Future Recommendation" in your interview results is confusing as it is irrelevant here, include this in part 7. Furthermore, make sure to answer your research questions in part 4.
General Feedback: Work on Research Implementation Assignment 1 – To finalise the Draft Dissertation Research Implementation – DEADLINE on Draft Dissertation. Live online briefing on Final Dissertation with Visual Design. Feedback on Google Classroom / Microsoft Teams / Google Drive
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Include a subsection for "Limitations of the study". Complete the table in section 4.0 and make sure to change the phrasing from "Participant 1.. etc" to "P1.. etc" when referring to the results.

REFLECTIONS
Experience: With this assignment, I navigated through the process of writing my first research dissertation through meticulous research, observation, and feedback. My favorite aspect of this module was the visual design and flipbook, however it proved to be the most tedious and time consuming task. Classes were concise and guided the progression of my writing and submission. The overall experience was quite challenging as this was my first time writing a dissertation, but through time and effort, I wrote a piece I can feel satisfied with.
Observations: Through observation from my peers, I better understood the structure of the dissertation and what to include. The "do's and don't" document provided by my tutor was an excellent point of observation as I was able to make comparisons between this and my current work.
Findings: I found that consistent feedback and approval improved the clarity of my output. Dr AP Dr Wong Chui Yin provided well-rounded and specific feedback to make changes on my current work, and attendance in classes counted a lot. I found myself struggling with creating research conceptual framework as well as gathering my sources.
