LECTURES

Week 1

During Week 1, we were briefed on the module including the MIB, and assignments to be expected for the semester. We were also briefed on the first exercise, which is quantifying and visualize data, basically a form of sorting and organizational system using objects of our choice. we can sort them by shape, size, colour etc..

: planning and research

Our presentation went well, with proper feedback from Mr Fauzi and Mr Samshul, we were able to proceed to our fully fleshed script/ storyboard/ voiceover/  design. We needed to change our script and storyboard as they suggested we narrow our topic further and shorten it.

This was our finalized art style and palette:

I volunteered to redesign the storyboard:

    : script/ storyboard/ voiceover

I decided to work on the storyboard, referring the script Jia Wei made, I was able to visualize and divide each section into relevant storyboard frames.

    23/3/25 Refined Script

Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder that packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and a smooth, umami flavor. Loved for centuries, this superfood has goes beyond just tea! Let’s make 3 easy matcha recipes to sip, indulge, and glow!

First up, a creamy matcha latte!

    You'll need:

1-2 tea spoon matcha powder, 2 tea spoon hot water, and 200ml milk

First, sift the matcha powder into a bowl. Add hot water and whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. Warm up your milk and pour it over the matcha mixture. For an iced version, simply pour the matcha over a glass of ice and cold milk instead!

Packed with Vitamins A, C, E, and K, matcha supports immunity and gives a smooth energy boost! Stir well and enjoy!

    Time for a cool treat.

Let’s make creamy matcha ice cream that doesn’t require ice cream maker!

    You'll need:

    600ml whipping cream

    4 tea spoon matcha powder

    1 tea spoon vanilla extract

    300ml sweetened condensed milk

Whip the cream, matcha, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Drizzle in the sweetened condensed milk while gently folding it in with a spatula until it’s smooth. Pour into a container, cover with wrapping paper, and freeze it for at least 6 hours.

You will get a rich, creamy, and packed with matcha goodness—enjoy your homemade matcha ice cream!

Matcha is great for your skin too! Let’s make a simple matcha face mask for a natural glow.

    You'll need:

1 tea spoon matcha powder (rich in antioxidants)

    1 tea spoon honey (moisturizing)

    ½ tsp lemon juice (brightening)

Mix everything into a smooth paste and apply it to clean skin. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

This matcha mask helps detox, brighten, and hydrate your skin naturally.

    And that’s it!

From a refreshing drink to a glowing skincare, matcha got you covered! Try one of our recipes for a fun and delicious matcha treat!

(here im thinking a scene like 2 cute character siting side by side- doesnt have to be human, have mask on their face and toasting iced latte with ice cream, enjoying under a shade in a sunny day. Thats just in my head, feel free to design the way you like!)

    Refined Script by Jia Wei

I made my sketched storyboard based on this script:

Natasya also included her voiceover lines in a drive folder:

They were well-done and synchronized well with both the script and the storyboard. Jia Wei turned it into a video combining these two, so we could present to our tutors. We were ready for feedback.

After feedback, we had to make changed to our background colour and our transition animation. We decided to establish our background colours as the 3 lightest colours from our palette, to distinguish between the 3 main recipes.

Jia Wei also sketched the concept we decided for different finger numbers for each transition which we were to apply to our final animation:

    : digitizing

The storyboard was approved, with a few changes needed. We decided to digitize these changes straightaway on adobe illustrator and divide each part of the storyboard to each members like so:

I started off by making my models on illustrator. This can be later altered when animating.

After Friday class, we decided to do a final meeting and conclude that we animate straight on Adobe Animate. We divided our group into 3 teams: Sketching, Line-art and Colouring. I decided to be a part of the sketch team.

Meanwhile, Rachel and Dianne found some suitable background music, and we chose Rachel's first option:

We then showed our first progress to sir for consultation, after a simple sketch line art synced with the voiceover and subtitles.

This is what i came up with for my final sketch animation:

Our Lineart and colouring team took over and we were ready to present our first draft to sir, this was our progress as of week 6 tutorial:

Our deadline was in a few days and we needed to speed up. As per feedback, we could include a video thumbnail for engagement, which I volunteered to do:

    This was my first attempt:

Everyone liked this design, however I didn't get the sizing correct, so I redid it with minor changes.

This was our final animation progress before subtitles were included:

    FEEDBACK

Week 4: Progress looks good, remember to include suitable colour palette, try to make each recipe divided by a certain background colour for clarity. For the start of each recipe, follow a consistent listing style in the icons, so viewers can better visually understand the order of instructions. Choose suitable background music.

    Week 5: Complete

Week 6: Very good progression! Love the art style and how easy it is for audiences to follow. Make sure subtitles are included in the final and work on the clarity through colour. Maybe try to include a thumbnail for extra creativity and engagement. Make sure the ingredients are clearly stated.

    REFLECTION

The final project brought my entire group together and helped us strengthen our communication and collaboration. We relied our integration heavily though Google Drive, each of us contributing and updating our work accordingly. Allocating work was effective: everyone had a part to play from script writing, to animation, to even selecting background music and more. The biggest learning curve was working with Adobe Animate, which at the time proved to be frustrating, but looking back, I'm glad we used this software as it widened my skillset and Animate is now a tool I am curious on developing further. I enjoyed working with each of my teammates and wished we conducted more physical classes to work along them face-to-face, however with this barrier, we collaborated seamlessly. Our final output was incredibly effective. I loved the colour scheme and the ways in which we chose to present information in a simplistic and easy-to-digest manner. The hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation is what stood out the most to me, and we could not be able to achieve this without the hardworking team and guidance provided by Mr Fauzy.
