WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)

DESCRIPTION: I learnt how to use the pen tool to select and trace around images to place them. I explored various crop tools such as lasso, and rectangle selection (refining as well). Using layers, I was able to create such a composition of different images in a collage format.

Using adjustment layers, blending modes, and layers was something new to me and purely experimental. I started working with my first collage work to play around with various settings whilst following tutorials.

After familiarizing myself with these adjustment settings, I began on my first draft with my chosen composition work. I made it heavily edited and graphic as this was my art style.

After consultation with Mr Fauzy, he suggested making the editing less heavy and graphic to focus on the photography and composition more. I scratched off my first draft and reworked it to keep the original feel the same, but more rustic.

WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS)

Figure 1.2 Final Adjustment Edited Composition

DESCRIPTION: I did a little heavy editing as I wanted to achieve a rustic, bold poster-like composition. To achieve this, I played around with filters and blending modes on the layers. To refine further, I manually edited the brightness, contrast, and saturation levels through the adjustment tools. For a grainy look, I added the textured image, with a slight decrease in opacity. This also creates a contrast between the background and the subjects.
