I watched the video tutorial and referred to the slides to understand Photoshop interface and basic tools.
Using the following pictures:

Figure 1.0 First image used

Figure 1.1 Second image used

I made my first composition. I used to lasso, move, direct selection tools etc.. to create this. I wanted to the piece to replicate an abstract aquarium and i cropped the old couple looking at the vending machine, to make it seem as though they are looking at the floating fish. The complementary colours between the warm orange-like background and cool-toned blue fish really stood out to me.

Afterwards I got to work on my second composition. I wanted to include a fish in this as well, but slightly different images,

Figure 1.6 Image 4

This composition was purely experimental, with little to no concept in mind. I liked the pop of blue against the grainy, dull black colours. The human subject matched both black and blue colours so i included him there. This piece gives a very futuristic yet industrial feel to it, making it all the more dystopian.

2. COMPOSITION #2

Figure 1.7 Composition 2

I finally worked on my last composition, mixing the images used from the first and second, almost like a combination of the two. I liked the idea of complementary colours and mixed it here. The colour palette is incredibly pleasing and the symmetry in this piece is quite satisfying. I kept it harmonious and balanced and contrasted the fixed rigid composition with two strips of fast-moving images at the top and bottom of the piece.

3. COMPOSITION #3

Figure 1.9 Final Composition #3

I personally favoured collage composition 1, as I had a clear vision in mind, however after consulting Mr Fauzy, his favourite was the 3rd one, primarily for the symmetrical composition and clarity.
